Olympus US Open Series
Tickets for Fed Cup Final Go on Sale August 20

The USTA announced that tickets for the 2010 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final between the United States and Italy, will go on sale on Friday, August 20, at 10 a.m. PST. The matches will be played at the San Diego Sports Arena, November 6-7.
The tie marks the first time the Fed Cup Final has been played in the United States since 2000, when the U.S. won their record 17th Fed Cup title.
The match-up between the U.S. and Italy will mark the second consecutive Fed Cup Final between the two nations. The U.S. lost to Italy on a slow red clay court in Reggio Calabria, Italy last year, 4-0.
Ticket prices range from $80 to $350 and are sold as two-day packages
Tennis Channel to Offer Summer Tournament Coverage

Tennis Channel will carry nine Olympus US Open Series tournaments this summer, offering viewers nearly 80 hours of high-definition action from the six-week series that leads to the US Open in August. In addition to prime-time Sunday doubles finals, the network will cover singles semifinal, quarterfinal and early round matches in 2010, with live and first-run telecasts that begin Friday, July 23, and end Saturday, Aug. 21.
Men’s Olympus US Open Series tournaments on Tennis Channel in 2010 are: the Atlanta, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Toronto and Cincinnati – with the two latter events also a part of the ATP Masters Series. The network’s four women’s events are: Stanford, Calif., San Diego, Cincinnati and Montreal.
Tennis Channel has partnered since the circuit began in 2004, with fellow broadcasters ESPN and CBS Sports. In 2010 Tennis Channel will again produce all Olympus US Open Series coverage for the three networks, minus the two ATP Masters Series events and the series’ final competition, Pilot Pen Tennis at Yale.
Tennis Channel’s on-air team during the series includes a range of veteran broadcasters and former players. Play-by-play duties will be shared by Ted Robinson and Leif Shiras. Former American tennis champions Lindsay Davenport, Jimmy Arias, Justin Gimelstob and Corina Morariu will serve as analysts, with Morariu occasionally splitting sideline-reporting responsibilities with Australian doubles specialist Ashley Fisher.

Combining a Tennis Vacation and Attending a Professional Tournament
On the surface it may seem like a relatively easy effort: Enjoying a tennis vacation and at the same time attending a professional tennis tournament. This is the best of both worlds for an avid tennis player playing tennis and watching the elite players in the world do the same.
However, upon closer examination, the opportunity to combine both is not always practical. Take the U.S. Open for example. An incredible tournament but a resort tennis vacation in New York City? Not really. On the other hand, going on vacation to Monte Carlo and watching the tournament could be a nice combination but traveling from the U.S. makes it cost prohibitive for many people.
In my opinion, one of the very best if not the best opportunity to combine both is the upcoming BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif., from March 8-21 (www.bnpparibasopen.org).
For starters, as the worlds fifth largest tournament, it is one of the few outside the Grand Slams where you can watch both the men and women compete in the same venue. Weather-wise while much of the U.S. is just beginning to thaw out from winter weather, temperatures in the desert area at that time of year are normally in the 70s and 80s. On the entertainment value issue, one general admission ticket allows you to spend hours and hours roaming the complex watching matches.
On the tennis vacation aspect, between resorts, clubs, hotels, private home and gated community rentals and even public facilities, there are multiple options for playing tennis. With daily matches at the tournament starting most days at 11 a.m., there is plenty of opportunity to get in anywhere from 1-3 hours of tennis playing yourself before heading to the tournament.
I highly recommend Desert Springs A JW Marriott Resort & Spa (www.desertspringsresort.com) and Rancho Las Palmas (www.rancholaspalmas.com) as two destinations for your tennis playing/attending a professional tournament experience. Desert Springs has 20-courts: 15 hard, three clay and two grass. Rancho Las Palmas has 25 hard courts.
Tennis at both facilities is under the direction of Peter Burwash International (PBI) and have comprehensive programs to meet the needs of all levels of players. In addition, both resorts besides being located close to the tournament location are accustomed to the needs of guests who are trying to combine their own tennis playing with attending the tournament.
The BNP Paribas Open and a tennis vacation: It just doesnt get much better than that.
